The first edition of the History of Willis Point (ISBN 978-1-84589-354-0) has been published as of December 2011. Authored by current long time resident Bill Wright in conjunction with the Willis Point Community Association this brilliant compilation covers the origins of the point from the last ice age to 2002.
The history of Willis Point is being written even now by all who follow the quiet tree-lined trails to the shores of the inlets and dip their toes into the cool clear water or hike through the foresets.
Here is a collection of some of their stories, along with the geographical background, natural history and a short history.
The members of the Central Willis Lands Volunteer Fire Department respond to a call while the chief and deputy are away deer hunting.
This satirical short movie was created for and inspired by the past and present members of the Willis Point Volunteer Fire Department and deliberately pokes fun at some of their exploits. It was originally screened at their annual Christmas party in 2011. Volunteer firefighters spend many hours practicing and preparing for very serious emergency calls but nothing can prevent a little bit of mayhem. Most volunteers should be able to relate to this hence sharing the movie on the web.
